A Community Conversation on Affordable Housing for Artists

The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design and Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce invite you to participate in a community conversation on affordable housing solutions for artists in Asheville.

Please join them in welcoming Artspace, the national nonprofit leader in developing affordable artist live/work spaces, for a public presentation and discussion of a potential arts-based development project in Asheville.

Free parking available at HomeTrust Bank, 10 Woodfin St, Asheville. Light refreshments provided by Green Opportunities and Buchi Kombucha.

The Art of Design on Netflix

Netflix is primed to launch a new original documentary series next month fit for all architecture and design enthusiasts. “Abstract: The Art of Design” will premiere on Feb. 10 and spotlight how design influences everyday life. The show, produced by Editor-in-Chief of WIRED Scott Dadich, follows the creative genius of eight innovators in design-related fields. One of those innovators is none other than Danish architect and founder of BIG, Bjarke Ingels.

W.W.Dodge | Artist, Architect, Silversmith and Preservationist

screen-shot-2017-01-03-at-3-12-40-pmThe Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County is hosting their first event of 2017 celebrating one of our region’s most versatile and accomplished Arts & Crafts talents: William Waldo Dodge. Dodge’s creative life is the subject of Bruce Johnson’s January 26th talk at All Souls Cathedral in Biltmore Village. Johnson has graced the PSABC with a number of well-attended presentations, and his upcoming program promises to be especially rewarding.

This lecture is scheduled on Thursday, January 26th, 5:30 pm, at Zabriske Parish Hall in All Souls Cathedral. All Souls address is 9 Swan Street in Biltmore Village. While admission is free, a suggested $10 donation supports local preservation and includes a half-price ticket to the 30th Annual National Arts & Crafts Conference at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
