In Situ Studio’s Mid-Century Makeover

Our friends at In Situ Studio, a Raleigh based architecture firm who came and spoke in Asheville last year, made over this cool mid-century, modern home bringing it up to date for today’s modern lifestyle. Enjoy some inspiration and take a closer look here. Cheers! Troy and Kelly

Traditional Meets Modern

We love the stripped down clean lines of this home from one of our news feeds. Check out the living space and fireplace. In form, it reminds us of our new modern cottages we have listed in Black Mountain that are finishing soon. Look for updated photos this month. Cheers!

How Can I Reduce Climate Change with my House?

As you all know there is a ton of discussion on climate change. Regardless of your beliefs your choices affect your personal health and your wallet to start before rippling out to your communities both locally and globally. It is worth a minute to explore how we can take personal responsibility in our own lives and with our homes.

This chart shows us a few considerations for the home, but goes beyond into our food and transportation choices. For a more direct and deeper look at your house go to this article for tips on reducing your climate impact. We appreciate you!

Modern Fans

Ceiling fans are always a topic of discussion when we tour homes with clients and one of the first things, along with light fixtures, to get changed out of homes to add a more modern aesthetic. Finding affordable options wasn’t always easy, but finding options with clean lines is easier today. One of our modern news and shopping feeds sent us this link at 2Modern. We thought they pulled together a nice assortment of options. So, stay cool as you stay cool in your home. Cheers! Kelly and Troy

Modern Monday

Bathroom in Black and White | You know that Kelly and I love our black and white in any form. We saw this little main bathroom remodel and thought it would be cool for updating some of those ranchers our there. We might change out the shower to frameless glass, but other than that it is good to go. Enjoy this article from our friends at Design Milk here. Cheers! Kelly and Troy

Little Ranch on a Hill

Yesterday, we toured our client’s updated and expanded little rancher just above Charlotte street and walkable to town. For years we have discussed ranch homes being a great resource for creating your ultimate modern nest and they very much proved us to be true. When it’s completed we will post a bit more on it, but for now we wanted to share a quick sneak peek, along with, our incredible excitement for our clients. Cheers! Kelly and Troy

Sunday Morning Modern

We had Earth Day this week so I thought it only appropriate to reflect on some modern design that was site and earth sensitive. {click on links} Whether they are directly influenced by the nature around them or live lightly on our earth and resources take some time to be inspired by some of these designs. There is no reason to not be sensitive to nature, our resources and our community when adding to our built environment. Enjoy your rainy Sunday. Cheers!

The Shed Roof

Good Morning Folks. In our team’s discussions around new residential homes here in Asheville we often bring up the term “Shed-style” roof. Overall, it is a popular design feature for our contemporary mountain homes. Often designers use it to emulate the vernacular of a shed or a more utilitarian style of architecture. At other times it is used to either open up your view or control the sun coming in. I thought the below video gave a nice overview of the popular roof style here in Asheville. Enjoy!

SOLD | Oakley New Build

On Friday we closed on this minimal, modern farmhouse as a pre-construction design/build package by our friends at Rural Modern, one of the builders we work with. The young, first time home buyers are excited about the warm and clean styling of this simple home. Rural Modern says they “build homes and interiors with a unique perspective.” You, also, know that we like to SELL them. Cheers to getting this one off the ground! Kelly and Troy
