It’s Almost Flea Time…Y’all!
The Flea for Y’all starts this month. Yeah! Kelly and I are soooooo excited to get back to the river with all our friends and their cool vintage, mid-century and industrial treasures. And have you seen the Salvage Station? They have been remodeling along with all of Asheville. Here are some pics.
We look forward to seeing you there on May 29th. Make sure you sign up on the Flea’s Facebook Page to keep updated. Cheers!

Vintage Modern 06: Local Antiques
Today, I stopped off to visit Morgan and Chad Baker at their shop called Local Antiques while looking for some vintage planters for our new office. I didn’t find what I was looking for, however, I did see a great variety of mid-century furnishings there. I make it one of my regular stops on the weekends.
Neighboring Local Antiques are other shops including Nostalgique and Oddfellows Antiques {say hi to Tarleton}. All these are down Swannanoa River Rd from the Tobacco Barn. Then from there you can hit the Biltmore Village area and see Chris at Revive, Chris at Dwellings and then swing up FairviewRd to visit MIX and the Screen Door. Last, circle back to Sweeten Creek and head east to Sweeten Creek antiques where you will find a few mid-century booths. You might catch Jeff rearranging some Eames era ceramics there. Together, the ten or so stores in the area can make for a full afternoon {or day} of home furnishing hunting and not a bad way, if you are like me, to avoid the Super Bowl.

Vintage Modern 04 – Oddfellows Antiques
While out this past weekend scouring for fun furnishings for my new mid-century apartment I was surprised to find more vintage modern furnishings sprouting up in new locations. One location was Oddfellows Antiques at 124 Swannanoa River Road. Owned by Tom and Kelly Haskin they describe their place as a 12,000sq/ft Design Warehouse. Since the last time I had visited they definitely have a great selection of thoughtfully displayed merchandise. I am already looking forward to my return visit!

Vintage Modern 03 – Sweeten Creek
After driving to see the Atomic Ranch house on Brooklyn today I found myself in front of another antique establishment. I thought I would pop in and see what they had in the way of mid-century goodies. I was not disappointed. Though not overwhelming in quantity I did find 3 booths with a good share of Eames era furnishings from sleek and cool to kitsch.

In continuing our tour of vintage modern dealers we find ourselves at the ScreenDoor in Asheville. With over 25,000 sq.ft. of groovy goodness they feature antiques, new home decor, hand crafted items, books and vintage modern of course. I found two or three booths of authentic modern furnishings, as well as, as few booths that cater to the industrial side of modern.
