Check out the kudos given to the team of Bellwether Design-Build, Retro+Fit Design and Allard & Roberts Interior Design for their combined effort on the Ciel community’s latest spec house soaring above Asheville. They were just featured on North Carolina Design’s online publication. Congrats y’all! Go here to enjoy the article.

Last Friday, Kelly and I were fortunate enough to get a private tour of Ciel’s latest spec home under construction. The 4800 sqft home is the latest in quality, luxury homes that make up the distinctive legacy being developed by David Zimmerman. David has selected the designers, builders and artisans for these mindfully crafted homes nestled above Asheville. The top floor of this home will be a soaring master suite with a treehouse spa bath and a ready to go elevator shaft if needed. Once completed I’m imagining it should prove a worthy and sexy hideaway for the next James Bond film.
The build is being led by Brad Rice of Bellwether. The home was originally designed by Retro-Fit Design and interiors are to be specified by Allard & Roberts. Above you can see the Cypress siding going up on the exterior. The wood is treated with a long-lasting green finish to both preserve it and allow it to turn a rich, warm gray blending with the surrounding trees. The team hopes to complete the home by June of this year. Kelly and I look forward to another tour in a few months. If you want to know more regarding this available home email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cheers!
I took a drive up to Elk Mountain Scenic Highway this weekend to see the latest modern spec home at Ciel under construction. As you can see it is starting to take shape and has great views into Asheville. Give us a call if you want details. Have a great Monday!
Sale Price: $1,610,000
Size: 3516 sqft
Amenities: 4 Beds + 3.5 Baths + View
Great to see that this house recently sold up at Ciel this year. Below is from a past article I had written on it in 2011.
The Bower House
The Bower House is in punch list phase of completion and I was fortunate enough to get a little tour yesterday from the listing agent. The 3516 sq/ft. home encompasses 4 bedrooms and 3.5 Baths and is currently listed at $1,595,000. Overall, the two things I like the most about this speculative designer home is the scale and the way it sits on the lot. Hunter Paul Coffey of Blowing Rock designed the contemporary home and is savvy to dramatic mountain settings. The house comfortably takes advantage of both the slope and the dramatic view, offering some indoor/outdoor living options including a retractable wall that slides open to allow for an additional outdoor living room with fireplace.
Interior Designer, Talli Roberts, chose interior materials that warmly blended the mountain and modern aesthetic. Constructed by Cottonwood, it is a very solid, livable mountain home that blends with its mountain environment without overstating itself and wisely bucks the trend of massive living spaces. I think its a high quality home for this moment that will only get better with age and patina.
Architect Paul Hunter Coffey has just completed the rendering for this new modern home at Ciel which is about to break ground. Here you can see some of the finishes including natural stacked stone, wood siding and corten steel roofing. The simple but dramatic home will blend well with the natural surroundings while opening up to one of the best views in Asheville.
Incredible views and modern living combine to create a sexy, new escape in the mountains. The community of Ciel which offers mountain and city views of Asheville is breaking ground on a dramatic new contemporary spec home. Designed by Hunter Paul Coffey of Boone, NC, this 3500 sq/ft, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home will combine both earthy and modern materials to fully dramatize Ciel’s tagline “Feel the earth. Touch the sky”
As you enter the front door you cross an interior bridge that focuses your view directly on Mt. Pisgah. The main level splits to feature all your open living spaces on one side and a grand master suite on the other. For those who want one level living this floor has everything you need to accomodate. For those who need more you can descend to the lower level to find another family room with fireplace and 3 bedrooms/offices that all have views.
The exterior will be finished off with cedar siding in both 1 x4 and 1 x 10 sections along with areas of dry stacked stone. The roof will be wide standing seam. The transitional glazing from inside to outside will be made with Lincoln “Touch” windows. The foyer will will have a retractable glass wall to the outide deck with fireplace.
The interior will feature oak flooring throughout and custom walnut cabinets. Lux is doing the lighting design and fixture specifications.
As with all Ciel homes this contemporary will be NC HealthyBuilt. It will include features such as Low E glass, passive solar considerations, rain water retention and a gravel drive. The house will sell for 1.6 million when completed. Stay posted as I will be posting updates on the construction of this home.
