Welcome Amanda Boren

Yeah! We are so pleased to welcome experienced real estate broker Amanda Boren to our team. Amanda joined us this January. Let us tell you about her.

As newlyweds twenty years ago, Amanda Boren and husband James Boren lived on a 35’ sailboat exploring the Caribbean and a jungle river in Guatemala.  Using solar panels and wind generation for renewable energy they experienced simple living on the sea and off the land. The impressions made during that sailing adventure remain with the couple and continue to influence the manner in which they approach both their work and their life to this day.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Business degree in Marketing and Real Estate Amanda began her career with home building products manufacturer Georgia Pacific. She later moved on to working with husband James, a builder by trade, in their building design, construction and sales business, was an independent mortgage broker, and most recently broker | realtor for another local company.  In addition, Amanda and James are building another Green Built home for themselves, using site harvested trees as flooring and accents in their home.

Since settling in the Asheville area over 8 years ago Amanda has focused on the green building market for Green Earth Developments’ residential projects as a key team member involved in both the design and marketing of 25 homes. Amanda is an active member of the WNC Green Building Council.  Her combined knowledge of construction, the building process, design, Green Homes and financing are invaluable to her buyers as well as her sellers.

“Being a Realtor was the perfect avenue for me to share what I know and to be of assistance in helping people find the home that is right for them.  Asheville allows us to live our passion, which is sustainable and healthy green building.”

Welcome Amanda! Kelly and Troy

Sunday Morning Modern

Modern Architecture Raises Property Values | Check out this nice article by one of our business partners, Real Estate Scorecard, on the value of modern design in real estate. See the full article by our friend Marge Casey here. Cheers!

“Mountain modern architecture is considered one of the most sought-after design trends in Asheville neighborhoods for a multitude of reasons. When folks think of the traditional mountain rustic home they envision a space that radiates shelter, warmth and protection from the harsh elements of high country living.  This classic notion of mountain living has evolved with advances of technology that enable homes to be built more energy-efficient and yet still cozy with new artistic designs that are more appealing to home shoppers today, especially in the austere city of Asheville.”

Samsel’s Modern Pavilion House Update

On our past visit to Samsel Architects, architect Duncan McPherson walked us through the design of this clean and simple house. We love this one! Below you can see the progression. Samsel Sketch

“The Pavilion House is located on a 40-acre farm that has remarkable mountain views and land dotted with towering old growth oak trees. It was important to locate and organize the house so the owners would get spectacular views without compromising the health of the large oak trees on the property. The result is an “L” shaped house designed around the trees with plenty of windows to connect the indoor living space to the outdoors. Construction has begun and framing, roof and windows are complete. Samsel Architects is working with Fred and Seth Koon of Koon Custom Homes to bring the modern home to completion.”Construction
