Nordic Lifestyle

We just ordered this book for the office today and wanted to share it. Scandinavian design and simplicity has always inspired us here at Modern Asheville Real Estate and was part of the inspiration for our listings seen here. Real Nordic Living celebrates the impact that Scandinavian culture has had internationally on art, design, fashion, food, and interiors, while seeking out the creatives and tastemakers who are bringing this covetable lifestyle to the general public. And, of course, we are thinking of you Kristen. Cheers!

As always, our friends in this part of Europe set the tone for the future in terms of design and lifestyle. A Rich Life with Less Stuff | The Minimalists | This video just popped up on our YouTube Channel. I don’t know how I have missed this one. Obviously, to connect to themselves, family and community in richer ways they couldn’t do having a lifestyle elsewhere. Why do I live in 600 sqft with empty closet shelves? Simply put it allows me choices to do other 425a41c223d13d7cb1b5fb5d068f7553things. Would we rather dust another room or take a drive on the Parkway? Or have the freedom to create a business we are passionate about? “Less is More” is a modernist concept in design from almost 100 years ago. Today, it is a growing modern lifestyle.

And how many of us have cleared out a family member’s home who hasn’t wondered, “What am I going to do with all this stuff?”

Enjoy this 15 minute video. Cheers from us!

Today’s Modern Lifestyle | The Sharing Economy

screen-shot-2015-07-24-at-1-28-06-pmToday, many of our modern-day real estate clients are looking for less house allowing them to live lighter and spend their time and money on experiences in Asheville and abroad. They are, also, looking to get more income from their homes through sharing. This mindset has filtered into many areas of our culture and given birth to what is now called “The Sharing Economy”. As opposed to my explaining this phenomenon, I thought the article here by Courtney Martin and related video by George Takei does the job so much better. Please enjoy!
