For all the years we’ve been in the business and watching cool properties we get to see a lot of diamonds in the rough. This one especially tugged at our hearts when we saw the 1965 vintage, mid-century home in North Asheville in its original and untouched condition. The home sits in the Kimberley Woods neighborhood — one of the many well located, mid-century and ranch home neighborhoods we have here in Asheville. Driving through last week we recently saw the updates and had to share. What do YOU think?

CALL FOR ENTRIES | Yeah! It is that time of year again. Submissions are open for the 2018 George Matsumoto Prize by NC Modernist Houses organization. Every year we have some great award-winning homes in the Asheville area. Here are two from last year and here are past articles on the event if you aren’t familiar.
The Prize is open to anyone with primary design responsibility for a completely built, from-the-ground-up, single-family Modernist house of at least 800 heated sf with a CO on or after January 1, 2013. The house must be in North Carolina; the designer/architect can be from anywhere. Want to enter? Go HERE.
Whether it be home construction or pottery our team loves the modern craft that comes from our mountain town. Check out this cool video with some of our local Makers. Speaking of Makers — Modern Asheville Real Estate is helping sponsor a local Makers Market. The first one of the year is coming up on Saturday, April 28th. Here’s the skinny. We hope to see you out there. Cheers!
If you haven’t seen this check it out! On April 3, the Building Our City Speaker Series will welcome Hunter Franks, the Founder and Artistic Director of the League of Creative Interventionists. The event is free and open to the public. Franks’ participatory projects break down social barriers and catalyze connections between people and communities. Check out the event HERE. Cheers!
As real estate agents with a visual sense we are always being asked about what to do in preparing a home for sale. While we do love light and neutral paint choices we are, also, big fans of grays and well curated pops of color for accenting key walls. The below recent article on houzz seems to capture a clean aesthetic while giving it some personality. Check it out. Cheers!

Check out this dramatic, mid-century home with cool architectural lines. Banded by rows of glass the home is light, bright and flowing with natural wood ceilings throughout and appears to be a vintage Deck House. The master is on the main level with a spa bath layout. Lower level has a living space with fireplace, 2 bedrooms plus two bonus rooms currently used as workshops. The home offers someone an opportunity to further modernize to taste. The home has year round mountain views that could easily be expanded further. This one is cool!
Want to see more? Take the tour here. Or give us a call. Cheers! Kelly and Troy
