Featured on North Carolina Design OnlineKatiesRidge_20150113044721

Like Kelly and myself, local designer Jason Weil of Retro+Fit Design has a background in entertainment production from previous lives lived in Los Angeles. Jason was recently featured in an online publication covering both his unique design background and residential work here in the mountains. In particular, the article centers on the home he designed for one of our builders, Brandon Bryant of Red Tree Builders. I’ll stop here and let you directly link to the niceĀ article by North Carolina Design. Cheers!

And don’t forget our Modern Mixer tonight at SPLURGE {by the Wedge Brewery} from 5 to 7pm. Robert and the Modern Asheville team hope to see you there.

Ciel | Crafted Modern Home

Comp o1Last Friday, Kelly and I were fortunate enough to get a private tour of Ciel’s latest spec home under construction. The 4800 sqft home is the latest in quality, luxury homes that make up the distinctive legacy being developed by David Zimmerman. David has selected the designers, builders and artisans for these mindfully crafted homes nestled above Asheville. The top floor of this home will be a soaring master suite with a treehouse spa bath and a ready to go elevator shaft if needed. Once completed I’m imagining it should prove a worthy and sexy hideaway for the next James Bond film. comp

The build is being led by Brad Rice of Bellwether. The home was originally designed by Retro-Fit Design and interiors are to be specified by Allard & Roberts. Above you can see the Cypress siding going up on the exterior. The wood is treated with a long-lasting green finish to both preserve it and allow it to turn a rich, warm gray blending with the surrounding trees. The team hopes to complete the home by June of this year. Kelly and I look forward to another tour in a few months. If you want to know more regarding this available home email us at hello@modernasheville.com. Cheers!

Retro-Fit-Design

IMG_0034Kelly and I stopped to visit with our friend Jason Weil of Retro-Fit-Design at his office in north Asheville this week. We have been following his work for a few years now. Jason is currently working on a variety of residential designs. His northwest inspired modern style reminds me of my days traveling to Seattle for Microsoft retail. The clean, extended horizontal lines blended with natural materials works well in Western North Carolina and in the northwest United States. Below are a couple of renderings of homes currently on his boards. He has a few projects in development in the Beaverdam valley area. Jason Comp

Jason did the design for the luxury, modern home seen below currently under construction at Ciel on Elk Mountain Scenic Highway. For more on Jason’s work visit his website.1492210_768778253158734_2735543227926577824_o Enjoy!
